This work explores the fusion between the meditative screens of the mind and the digital screens of technology. I strive to take a closer look at our affair with an automated world and to reveal the permeability of our sense of identity within our digital landscape. Borrowing the language of phones, tablets, and apps, I use wooden boards covered with animal glue, plaster, pigments and beeswax to create a juxtaposition of content and form/medium. I intend to add humor to a reality that is actually overwhelming and complex – our dependency and veneration of our digital devices, integrating the inevitable influence of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo after the meticulous study I did of her work while reproducing her paintings for the Miramax film Frida. My technology aspires to reflect quietude and to inspire reverence for something more than our modern devices—something that resides in people’s hearts.
